Shambellie House Trust

Creetown Initiative is working with Shambellie House Trust to carryout and submit a Heritage Lottery Fund Stage 1 grant application. The application is for the redevelopment of Shambellie House into a venue for high quality day and residential courses. Shambellie House is located in New Abbey and was designed by renowned Scottish architect David Bryce in 1860, in the Scottish Baronial style popular in Victorian Scotland.

The Trust have carried out extensive preliminary and investigatory work. This includes research, consultations, feasibility study, business plan, study trips, architects surveys and drawings. As a result, they have devised a new future usage for Shambellie House that best meets the needs of the community and local area. It will be sustainable and ensure the building is preserved. It’s history will be interpreted and made available to the public.
