Ferry Friends is our exciting new three year project for the older generations in the Kirkmabreck Parish, which includes Creetown and neighbouring hamlets Carsluith and Palnure. We have been successful in securing funding from the BIG Lottery Improving Lives fund, Dumfries and Galloway Council, SSE Sustainable Development Fund and the Robertson Trust, to assist our community with reducing isolation and loneliness and we will be providing opportunities for people to meet and socialise.
Community at the Heart of What We Do
Whilst there have been some activities identified by the project team, it’s very important that the community have a say in what they would like to see. Therefore, we’ll be asking the older members of our community what kind of activities they would like to see offered, which might include classes in photography, crafts, DIY, walking clubs and a lunch club. If people would like to visit places of interest around the area, such as the cinema, theatre or gardens, then that can also be arranged.
Home Visits and Transport Available
We’ll also be able to visit people at home to offer social contact and offer assistance and transport to get to appointments and to our events.
