Creetown Initiative has been engaged by the Royal Burgh of Sanquhar Community Council to produce a Community Action and Development Plan for the village and surrounding area. The Sanquhar community council area has a population of 2,370 and is located in the northern section of Upper Nithsdale, Dumfries and Galloway.
Sanquhar had a Community Action Plan produced in 2015 to cover the following five years. It now requires to be updated. The Creetown Initiative team will therefore revisit the 2015-2020 plan to assess what has been achieved, to identify new challenges, to establish what has changed and what new opportunities have arisen.
There will be a community and stakeholder consultation, including a community-wide survey and focus group meetings, all carried out with current Covid-19 safeguarding procedures. A community group governance and management review will be undertaken and the information gathered from the consultations, in addition to research, will be utilised to identify action plan key themes, priorities and actions.
