We are pleased to announce that a senior project officer from Creetown Initiative will be carrying out community development work in the small, rural village of Barr in South Ayrshire, working with Barr Community SCIO, a registered Scottish charity.
One of the key tasks of our work in Barr will be to take the charity through the process of an asset transfer of the community hall from South Ayrshire Council. This will involve extensive community consultations. In order to support the asset transfer, Creetown Initiative is working closely with the Council and funders and is developing a business plan to ensure that the hall is sustainable in the longer term.
The Organisation has been formed to benefit the community of Barr Parish (within such geographical boundaries) in order to protect the Barr Community Hall asset as the heart of the rural community and establish a viable and sustainable facility for all in Barr Village and the wider rural residents. Barr village is an isolated community around eight miles from Girvan in South Ayrshire. The picturesque village has a population of around 240 and has completed on a number of projects in the past, including developing walking trails, which were featured in the BBC series The Forest.
