Forestry and Land Scotland (FLS) is currently preparing a Land Management Plan for ‘The Creetown Block’, which comprises two small woodland blocks that provide the backdrop to our village; Balloch Wood and Chain Wood.
This Land Management Plan details FLS’s proposals for the woodlands for the next 10 years, including felling, restocking, road building and overall management aspirations. It will also be evaluated for certification under the terms of the UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS).
Normally the consultation undertaken by FLS would involve local drop-in meetings with the community, however due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, this is not currently possible. Therefore FLS are encouraging the community to provide comment and feedback on the proposals.
The link to the Land Management Plan for Creetown can be found here and includes the plan brief, location map, draft analysis map and draft concept map.
Other consultations across Scotland currently in progress, can be found here.
Other information about our local woodlands can be found on the Balloch Wood Community Project website.
